Burgers and Fun for the Kid in All of Us

Chef Paul Albrecht and son Patrick – who together run the Great Food Inc. restaurant group – have proven their mastery of the upscale dining scene as the driving forces behind Paul’s Restaurant and Social Vinings. But for their latest venture, The Burger Club, they’re leaving the refined, white tablecloth atmosphere behind to open the doors of a fun, casual spot where kids and adults of all ages are welcome.

“We’ve been doing the higher-end thing for a while and thought, ‘why not extend our standard of cooking to families?’” says Patrick, co-owner of the new Burger Club. “It seemed a natural evolution.”

A feeling that the “Buckhead restaurant thing” had been done to death, coupled with the fact that Patrick and his family have lived in Vinings for 6 years made Vinings Jubilee the perfect location for his first family-friendly restaurant.  “We’ve found the community to be open to fresh ideas and we’re excited to put a new concept on the Vinings culinary map.”

As the name connotes, The Burger Club offers a myriad of variations on the all-American staple ranging from sumptuous simplicity to tastes that border on the truly exotic. There is a lamb burger, inspired by Patrick’s mother’s Greek heritage as well as the aptly named “Artery Annihilator” – a bacon cheese burger served on a Krispy Kreme glazed donut instead of a bun.

Two things really set The Burger Club apart from the other burger joints that are popping up around Atlanta. First, the menu is not limited to burgers. Blackened grouper, pepper-crusted sirloin and a horseradish-encrusted chicken are just a few of the offerings that round out the menu. Second, they offer a variety of kids activities including a life-size chalkboard (the largest in Atlanta) to encourage coloring contests, birthday parties with burger buffets and rewards for kids that maintain a B-average in school.

While family-friendly, The Burger Club is not just for those with kids. They have a full bar complete with “adult milkshakes” and a separate lounge with numerous TVs, making it a perfect spot to cheer on your favorite teams.

Last but not least, Patrick reminds us, “It fits the economy, with a burger and a side starting at just $7.50.” So grab your appetite, friends and family and head to the newest restaurant in Vinings Jubilee.
